Hey Mom

My mom has been going to the hospital for the past couple of months. This is because her doctors have suspected that she has cancer. She has had tests and results, but until now no-one was sure.
Today though, that all changed...
And today is the start of a new phase of life for you.
I cannot imagine how you will get to sleep tonight, finally knowing the identity of the intruder that has gained access to the most precious of places.
I sit here in America, five hours behind all that is happening, and whilst I sit and write these lines I see you, lying awake, and worrying. Worrying what is left for you, what you can now accomplish, wondering whether you will ever again feel complete happiness, your mind free from the cloud that has come into view. Unsure as to how this will all play out.
Mom, I want you to be brave, I want you to face this battle with grit and determination, it could be a tough one, but I know you are up to it. I've seen the look when you aren't going to back down, and it works, so show this one the door, and give it a real hard kick on the way out.
I wish I could help you with the pain, we all wish we could eat some of it for you, but we can only stand and watch. But never, ever forget, you have always tried to do everything right for everyone that you love, and that counts.
I'm going to lie awake tonight too, you aren't alone.

I have known Val for many years, before she met your father, thats along time.
I know that she is up to and for the fight make no mistake about that. I wish her all the luck in the world.

Val
...I was very sorry to hear the news when Adam told me, I couldn’t believe it,‘not again!’ I thought, ‘not someone else that I know’, ‘not Val’...
...this thing, this indescriminate and randomn thing…I hate it…she’s so flippin lovely it doesn’t make sense!
...having nibbled at the tip of the iceberg of information regarding the subject, via the internet and books…and after speaking to friends who are dealing with, or more importantly HAVE DEALT with the ‘intruder’ as Adam so aptly puts it…
...I’ve learnt that it doesn’t dictate to you how things will be from now on…far from it…
...with knowledge and belief, YOU dictate how things will be…
...for me, knowing people who are effected only serves to positively underline just how many…how so, so, many people kick the flamin’ thing into touch!
...knowledge is power!
...you’re cleverer (is that a real word?), you’re smarter, sharper, more able to learn, more able to adapt, and a damn site more up for the fight!!!
this is how it is…
...Round 1, in ‘LOVED BY EVERYONE CORNER’, wearing red, white and blue…ITS VAAAAAL WIGGALLLLLLL…crowd goes wild…
...and in Weak, Pathetic and Horrible Corner its the unwanted intruder…BOOOOOO, BOO, BOO, HISS, SSSS…crowd throwing cups and stuff!
...Ding, Ding…Round 1!
“OH MY GOD…IT’S A KNOCKOUT! ...ONLY SECONDS AFTER THE BELL…VAL WIGGALL IS DANCING ROUND THE RING WITH HER ARMS IN THE AIR…HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND THE WHOLE CROWD ARE ERUPTING, SIMPLY GOING BERSERK WITH JOY FOR HER”...“AMAZING, SHE’S AMAZING”...
...“SHE’S A CHAMP!”
...Val, you’re in charge.
Luv Ya. X

Hi Adam, remember me? I was the estate agent who sold you your house in Dorridge a long time ago. Mum and I go back quite a long way so I get all the news about her family.
Just wanted to say how touched I was reading your note to Mum but to reassure you too: Val and I had a really lovely evening together yesterday; we talked (and ate!) not stop between 6.30 and 9.30 and Mum looked absolutely marvellous. We had such a super evening, I came away feeling much better knowing that Mum was doing so well and as always, up for a challenge. I know the look you refer to and boy oh boy, does she mean business.
Many congratulations on your recent marriage Adam. Mum tells me how happy you and Sage are so long may that continue.
With kind regards. Jackie

Adam,
I will have your mother and you in my prayers; I talk to God every night and perhaps he will listen on this on.
The best your mother and you.

Hi Adam,
Mark from the ExpressionEngine forums here. I am sending all my best thoughts and wishes for all of you in this time. I am sure with all the obvious love and well wishes that you have in your family that your Mom is going to be well looked after. I am definitely one for the belief that you can fight anything with enough will and determination and it seems as though there is a lot here.
I wish you, your mom and all your family the very best and pray for you too.
Best wishes,
Mark

Hi Adam
Thinking of Val and all the family, especially Derek, Lisa and, of course you Adam. I spoke to Mum today for an update. I can’t believe she’s having to go through chemo again but I hope and pray that all goes well for her on Tuesday. She’s such a brave soldier; full of fighting spirit so let’s all help her over this new hurdle. Keep fighting Val - you’re a survivor and we’re all with you!!
Kind regards. Jackie

My family asks about you often and the power of positive thought is certainly on your side.
Much love, Sage.
