Chris

A photo of Chris Levitt

Our world here in Orlando has been rocked this week by the very unexpected and wasteful taking of life. We are all in mourning.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult and painful time. He was, and will always be, one of the people you never forget.

Many of us today are feeling emotions that are awash with shock, pain, hurt and sadness. Emotions that, in time, will be replaced with memories of a good friend and team mate. Chris was a guy with character, a quick whit and a permanent smile. He always entertained with tales of his great adventures, of which there were many.

He will be sadly missed at the pub, and on the field, where he was always guaranteed to give 100% (and usually more!). Only one week ago he scored a cracker of a goal that he relived with us all many times, a goal that apparently would have ensured a trial for his beloved Leeds United. And he was always there to back you up, whether on the pitch or elsewhere, we were always thankful for that.

The whole St. Andrews Family of patrons, players, staff and friends mourn a great loss today, as do so many others who had the fortune to have Chris in their lives, rest in peace mate.

Please leave your thoughts, comments and anecdotes to our beloved and faithful team mate, friend and colleague. The one, and only, Chris Levitt.

Here is the link to the photos I took on Sunday, at both the game and at the pub later.  This link will take you to the first album. At the bottom of the picture area, there is an option to “Browse all albums”.  This will take you to all five albums.

Also, Big Phil is working to have the presentation available on his website soon. We will hopefully have more information soon.

The love Chris gave and received, to and from his family will always be far greater than any evil which has become him.
Surely the right to life is paramount over the need to defend. Please please think. America gave Chris his future, but Americas attitudes to fire arms has now taken it away.

Aww, thanks Masha.  You are a great photographer. Still get a lump in my throat seeing all those Levitt shirts on the sidelines.  Cheers and take care.

To Frances, I have just heard the shocking news. It was not my privilege to know your Son Chris but I know you so feel I would have liked him as much as all the people who have written in this link. But more than that I feel I would have loved him for being from Gods Country, Yorkshire, for being a Leeds Loiner and above all rest for being a Super Leeds United Fan. Keep the Faith Chris ! Gail your fellow Leeds United Fan.
The poem below is for you Frances.

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead.
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

Here is a link to some photos I took at the co-ed final a few weeks ago.  “Better late than never” they say.  Enjoy.

I know I think of Chris each and every day and of all the things we miss about him but he is so strong in our hearts that this will always keep him with us.  Miss you Darlin’

There are so many times I go to pick up the phone to call you - One day I will join you again for some more laughs - I passed the house we shared on Long Island last week - it brought back so many good memories and good times - I just try to keep thinking about the time we spent together and not that you aren’t here anymore.  I miss and love you so much Chris.

I came across this poem this week, and it just summed up how I have been feeling this past few weeks--along with so many others I’m sure.  I wish someone could say when this stops hurting so much.  Becky

IN MEMORY
© Kimberly Chastain

A thousand times we needed you
A thousand times we cried
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died
A heart of gold stopped beating
two twinkling eyes closed to rest
God broke our hearts to prove he only took the best
never a day goes by that you’re not in my heart and my soul.

To Everyone,

This post is now getting hit on a daily basis by spammers. I am going to have to put some security in place to beat them and keep this going.

I know that your messages are of great comfort to Chris’s family, I will hold this open for as long as possible.

Hi everyone. Fran here .I didn’t realise I could still post on here but I wanted everyone to know that we will be going to England on July 27th to see to Chris’s memorial there. He will be with his Grandad at Lawnswood cemetry in Leeds...........His resting place here in Florida is at the Sacred Heart Church where many of you came to his funeral. There is a huge stucco cross on the grass at the right hand side where you can go and talk to Chris or take flowers if you wish. His memorial stone should be placed soon. You will know where he is though. We are still struggling and not back on track here at all.I will miss him forever,my boy,my buddy my love..............Thank you Adam so much. You will never know how much this means to me or Chris’s family and friends. The ones in England who didn’t makeit here have all read this site and my Nephew Nick’s.To St Andrews Tavern, Chris’s second home also I thank you for the tributes, the last soccer match, the Leeds shirts, which I couldn’t come and see but have seen the fantastic pictures, the Levitt Cup,the memories........Jackie for the lovely medals which I have now for the whole family.......Masha for the pics and everyone else for the huge display of love........my family for being there for us.......and for everyone respecting my privacy as I still cannot visit and go out without going to pieces...........Thank you all xxxxxxx
