A photo of Chris Levitt

Our world here in Orlando has been rocked this week by the very unexpected and wasteful taking of life. We are all in mourning.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult and painful time. He was, and will always be, one of the people you never forget.

Many of us today are feeling emotions that are awash with shock, pain, hurt and sadness. Emotions that, in time, will be replaced with memories of a good friend and team mate. Chris was a guy with character, a quick whit and a permanent smile. He always entertained with tales of his great adventures, of which there were many.

He will be sadly missed at the pub, and on the field, where he was always guaranteed to give 100% (and usually more!). Only one week ago he scored a cracker of a goal that he relived with us all many times, a goal that apparently would have ensured a trial for his beloved Leeds United. And he was always there to back you up, whether on the pitch or elsewhere, we were always thankful for that.

The whole St. Andrews Family of patrons, players, staff and friends mourn a great loss today, as do so many others who had the fortune to have Chris in their lives, rest in peace mate.

Please leave your thoughts, comments and anecdotes to our beloved and faithful team mate, friend and colleague. The one, and only, Chris Levitt.

Chris’ service was amazing, from the amount in attendance to the Navy playing taps and presenting the flag to the family.  It was really beautiful--a magnificent send off.

Cheers St Andrews crowd.  Thank you for bringing Chris’ wayward Aunt (wayward in my loving nephew’s eyes in the respect that I don’t go out boozing all the time-ha) closer to him through your stories and songs.  You’re a lovely bunch.

My parents know Chris’s family really well his Uncle John, Carl and Janet. When i was about 16 years old Chris came over to England to visit his family and i started dating him for a couple of weeks whilst he was over here. When he flew back to Florida we stayed in touch for about a couple of years as friends he used to send me gifts over for my birthday and Valentines etc which was a wonderful thought. Chris used to call me his english rose he was nice, charming and thoughtful guy it is so awful that it has happended to such a lovely person. He will be sadly and dearly missed. Elaine and family x

Just wanted to see if I could post this because there was not one person more proud of our season than Chris Levitt. Chris would say, “I can’t believe we’re about to win the double with an undefeated season and having 8 players vs. 11 for more than one Sunday. At times we had 9 players all hungover,” he went on to say, “but it never mattered.” This was by far, the best season the Co-Ed’s have had since its inception. I hope everyone in town can come to our Final Cup game on Sunday, May 20th at 9am - Lake Sylvan Park to honor Chris.

I met Chris when he moved here from england. We were both 11 then and have been best friends ever since. we grew up together, went to school together, had our first beer’s and smokes together. We got into & out of more trouble than i could ever remember. I live in w.v now & have not seen him for a few years, but I never thought I would never see him again. I still have no words for the shock. His mum & my mom even became best friends cause we were always together for about 14-15 years. I love his mum franny as if she had raised me & in fact she partly did, and his stepdad john is one of the best men ive ever known. Thank you all for this I know it helps franny to hear how much her son was loved.  The last time I saw chris we were about 25. I came down to florida and we went to a bar.(what a shock) We had a wild night playing darts, drinking, fighting over lighters and recalling old tales. He had a cast on his leg at the time, but that wasn’t about to stop us from getting inton yet another fight. when it was all done we had won and were standing in front off the police laughing like idiots.(what a shock) John came to pick us up and they let us go, John to rescue again. that happend alot. I’m glad you all got to share his spirit. He loved, fought, worked, played, & laughed with all he had all the time.
Most of all he had a laugh that made all laugh with him!!
I love you Franny & John
Chris we all love & miss you, but will remember your spirit forever.

Chris was a great man. I served with him in the Navy and we have kept in touch ever since. We had many great nights out. We played more videos games on that ship than anyone. Chris once did the whole aviation departments whites(laundry) with a maroon table cloth and all of their t-shirts,socks and underwear came out pink. He told them sorry for their luck. From taking a cops bicycle , to telling a girl she didnt sweat much for a fat lass(she turned him down for a dance) to my wedding , to stealing Jersey Girl . Chris was the guy you always wanted in your corner and in your passenger seat going out. He had the greatest relationship with his mother. He really was a mamma’s boy. Of course those would be fighting words to Chris. I never was a big soccer fan but Chris got me into that too. I smile as i write this , the memories will last forever. He was one of a kind. Fran if you ever need anything , don’t hesitate to call

I was just piling through a box of keepsakes from when we lost our Dad a few years ago, and I came across this poem:

No yesterday
No tomorrow
Only today
That you will come and fetch me Lord, I pray
Memories of days gone by
Morrows dreams unborn
Only today to mold
The shapes the future will unfold
To plant
To germinate
To grow
Others yet unborn to reap
Tomorrow’s crop

When we die, we do not take our love with us. It remains here like a seed to multiply.

I went to school with Chris, what seems now to be such a long time ago, I think we were only 11 when he left, looking back we all had some good laughs, especially at the amount of hair Gel he used to use! we said goodbye to a good friend when he left for FL.  I’ve often wondered how he was getting on, although looking at the posts on many differnet sites he made a great life & made great friends. I would like to send my sympathy to Chris’ family & friends. x

Levitt and I met when we were both in grade school at the age of 11 or 12. It wasn’t long before we became good friends and began our consistent and unending torment on Chris’s mum, Fran, the always patient John, every neighbor we came in contact with.  I hadn’t spoken to him for a few years, but I always assumed I would run into him at a local bar or pool hall and we would catch up in minutes only to return to the same old fun loving mischevious activities.  Not unlike the situation Matt Crosby has mentioned in an earlier post, I always looked forward to saving Chris from his most current of adversaries.  The fact that I saved them both that night from certain defeat at the hands of several much bigger opponents has eluded our friend Matt.  Old Levitt, being Levitt took it upon himself to poke a little bit of fun at these fellow bar patrons, all the while his leg is in a cast.  “Nevermind the cast, Baby!” Chris would have said.  To make a long story short, we ended up brawling with these fellows, O’ what fun, and of course coming out victorious.  Pay no attention to the gash I ended up with behind my ear, I still say I saved the day.

You were a great friend, Chris.  I wish desperately I would have kept in touch.  You enriched all the lives you came in contact with and made this world a better place.  I miss you very much, my friend.

Well I see our friend Greg has a poor memory. Although I did forget you were there that night, lets face it your performance was not exactly memorable. I’m not sure who needed my help more you or the one legged Levitt. As usual I was magic & the night was saved BABY!!! Course, well then. As Chris cool would put it, your the zero & I’m the hero baby!! Course I are!!!!
Reminds me of the time I had to save Levitt’s life in Daytona Beach, but thats another story.
Hey, Greg you remember the time Levitt proved he was the best young drywall man in central Florida. That was good.
Course well than time to drink one for Levitt, hey were’s my lighter.

see ya Levitt

Within the little time I managed to spend with Chris, on Wednesday nights on the soccer field and at the pub, he always struck me as one of the nicest, quietest, most down to earth players from the team; yet never afraid to pop into a conversation and laugh away with the guys. A stranger could easily spot he was liked by EVERYONE.

A while back he was telling me how he was looking for a new job, so I told him the company I work for was currently hiring in the telecom field. Without hesitation he asked if he could email me his resume, and forward it to HR. to witch I instantly replay, yeah.
The man had a bright long future in front of him.

My deep respect goes out to him and to his family.
What a tragic lost.

Sunday was a day I will remember and cherish for the rest of my life.  The atmosphere at the pitch and that at the pub was simply wonderful.  Seeing all the Levitt shirts on the sideline was beautiful.  I am so proud to be a part of the St. Andrews family.  The presentation done by Mashe was done perfectly and it brought back memories that will be cherished forever.  Although Chris is gone, he lives on in each of our hearts.

Absolutely.  It was hard to be there and lovely at the same time.  It still amazes me that in a world where we are all so caught up in believing that only the huge gestures can change the world, we get this reminder that a smile, a chuckle and a good heart can sprinkle stardust into so many people’s lives.

Chris would be really proud of the new trophy named for him.  My e-mail address is .  Mashe, if you could please send the PPT presentation and the link to the photos when you get the chance, I would truly appreciate it.  Thank you all so much.  Becky
