A photo of Chris Levitt

Our world here in Orlando has been rocked this week by the very unexpected and wasteful taking of life. We are all in mourning.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult and painful time. He was, and will always be, one of the people you never forget.

Many of us today are feeling emotions that are awash with shock, pain, hurt and sadness. Emotions that, in time, will be replaced with memories of a good friend and team mate. Chris was a guy with character, a quick whit and a permanent smile. He always entertained with tales of his great adventures, of which there were many.

He will be sadly missed at the pub, and on the field, where he was always guaranteed to give 100% (and usually more!). Only one week ago he scored a cracker of a goal that he relived with us all many times, a goal that apparently would have ensured a trial for his beloved Leeds United. And he was always there to back you up, whether on the pitch or elsewhere, we were always thankful for that.

The whole St. Andrews Family of patrons, players, staff and friends mourn a great loss today, as do so many others who had the fortune to have Chris in their lives, rest in peace mate.

Please leave your thoughts, comments and anecdotes to our beloved and faithful team mate, friend and colleague. The one, and only, Chris Levitt.

Our hearts go out to Chris’ loving mum and dads, the relatives and friends, including the St. Andrews family, the UK community, and those spread across the US. We are sending out wishes for strength, healing, and peace to all of us who morn.
Chris, thank you for the friendship shared with you, branded with your loyalty and laughter. Our memories will keep us going through the unstoppable days. You are truely one-of-a-kind, and it is with heavy hearts we have to say good-bye.
Love always, your friends beyond life,
Leslie and John

Chris, I’ll miss you in so many ways that I could’t possibly fit them all in here. Your laugh, your smile, your unswerving support for Leeds but most of all your fierce patriotism. I know that if you could speak to us now you would tell us in no uncertain terms: don’t worry boys, just remember that some corner of this foreign field will remain forever ENGLAND. Love you mate. JB.

Dear Chris:

I’ve been struggling with putting the words together to properly convey my feelings and all this. We were always the notorious disaster hanging out, both of us loosing both of our keys. All’s I know is that I will never find the unconditional friendship I had with you. Your memories will always remain sacred. You always could make me smile, in any situation. You truly were the brightest light. I remember telling Aunt Janet weeks ago, how wonderful and loyal you were to me/indoubtably.Truly Genuine. One of a kind. I only wish that Riley could grow up to be half the person you were. Fran - I would love to know how you did it? Thank you Fran for Chris.... When you loved/cared you did it to the fullest. So many lives you touched positively, if you only knew, but you do now! I know you are at peace and in a happy blissful place, may all your dreams continue to come true. I love you always, and you will always have a piece of my heart…

Fran, You raised an amazing man.  I hope that one day my son will have the love that Chris had in his life and the heart of Gold that Chris had to feel it with.  You are a great Mum, thank you for sharing your baby with us.

Les, Every time I met you, I was amazed to find out where Chris got all his terrible jokes smile
Thank you for instilling the sense of humor in him that could bring people together and make them into friends.

John, Chris loved and respected you.  I know that he finds comfort in knowing that you will take good care of his Mum.

Love always,

Em

Chris,

You had the heart of a lion both on and off the field. You will be missed. May the Jager bombs flow like water where you are.

Thanks to all of you who visited us and Chris today. Your love and support means volumes.  We will see you Monday at the church.  Parking is limited, and you will have to park streetside, so the more people who can carpool, the better.  You can take I-4 and get off at the 441/OBT exit, get straight into the left lane, and take a left onto 36th St.  It is a couple of blocks down on the right.
Thanks again,
Becky

Mother’s Day

What if a mother
woke up today
And thought, how do I mother
when my boy’s gone away”
She’d wonder what it was
that gave her that title
Was it just giving birth
or becoming his idol?
Because that’s what she is
and that took some time.

It took bathings and readings
each night at bedtime.
It took nappies, and undies
and songs on the potty.
It took deep breaths and strong words
each time he was naughty.
It took Band-Aids and medicine
each time he was sick.
It took joking and laughter
to build that quick-wit.
It took bananas in pajamas
walking down stairs
It took letting Danny Zuco
slick back his hair.
It took making sure Spiderman’s
jammies were clean.
It took helping with homework
and all in between.
It took standing up front
for his big soccer games.
It took listening at graduation
as they called out his name.
It took waving goodbye
as he served the Navy.
It took wishing he’d come home
for puddings and gravy.
It took long last goodbyes
each time they would part
It took tissues and long hugs
with each broken heart.
It took watching him go off
and come back a man.
It took long talks and long laughs
only they’d understand.
It took him taking over
and making her cups of tea.
It took a love and respect
that any one of us could see.
It took making sure he knew
how to treat a girl right.
It took worry and wisdom
when he’d get in a fight.
It took loving his grin
and his twinkling eyes
It took waiting on this day
to get his surprise.
It took two hearts together
without one single doubt.
But mostly it took knowing him
inside and out.

Twenty Nine years
of motherly love
of nurturing from cradle
to God’s arms above

No act on this earth
can remove all those trials
all those tender tribulations,
all those long, hard-earned miles.

Because you can’t see him,
you’re title does not cease
But with each adoring memory,
is only increased.

Your beautiful boy
may have gone from your eyes,
but we rejoice at the beauty
he has given our skies!

So how do you mother
when your boy’s gone away?
You whisper, “I love you”
as he guides you each day.

Chris was so very special
And was so from the start
You held him in your arm
But mainly in you heart

And like a single drop of rain
That on still water fall
His life did ripples make
And touched the lives of all

He`s gone now to the angels
In heaven up above
So keep your memory`s special
And treasure them with love

Although your darling son
Was with you just a while
He`ll live on in your heart
With a remembered smile

Hi chris, althought I only saw you every few months it was always fun to hang with you. My little Popeye, or so I called you, cause you liked to fight and I had to keep an eye on you for that. You’d look at me with that face like ... “what, I’m not doing anything?”, no chris but you’re plotting it! Ha Ha I met you in 2005 and always referred to you as “English Chris” and always looked for you whenever I hung out with Leslie and John, if you weren’t around I at least asked how you were doing. Take care my little Popeye I will miss you.
... Frances
